The area, teeming with people close to a prominent religious institution, descended into chaos as crowds fled in all directions, causing widespread panic.
Mangled vehicles littered the scene, and reports of torn body parts underscored the blast's brutal impact on the densely packed vicinity, sending shockwaves through the national capital and the country at large.
The blast occurred during peak evening traffic, resulting in multiple casualties in one of the city’s most congested heritage zones. The explosion was powerful enough to damage nearby vehicles and shatter glass panes in adjacent shops.

Delhi Red Fort Blast: What Initial Investigations Revealed?
Preliminary police assessments have now confirmed that the explosion was triggered by a deadly combination of ammonium nitrate mixed with fuel oil, along with detonators. Forensic experts are awaiting the final laboratory report for definitive clarity.
As per the initial investigation by the Delhi Police teams and central investigative agencies, the deadly blast near the Red Fort in the national capital was a ‘Fidayeen' (suicide) attack, believed to have been carried out by Jaish-e-Mohammed.

It reveals a connection to a series of arrests starting 12 days ago in Jammu and Kashmir, beginning with Dr. Muzamil, followed by Dr. Adil and Dr. Shaheen in Saharanpur, totaling eight detentions by J&K police.
Sources revealed that the suspected bomber, Dr. Umar Nabi, planned the suicide attack soon after learning that a terror module in Faridabad had been busted. Twelve people were killed and several others were critically injured in the high-intensity blast that rocked the area around 6.52 PM, Monday.
Officials are probing whether the actual target was located elsewhere, as surveillance video showed the Hyundai i20 vehicle noticeably slowed down before the explosion occurred.
Working alongside several central agencies, the Delhi Police's Special Cell has made considerable progress in tracking the vehicle's path. Investigators have examined over 100 CCTV recordings, encompassing footage from the Badarpur border up to the Red Fort parking zone.
The surveillance video revealed the car entering the Red Fort parking area, driving around the Golden Mosque, and leaving only minutes before the explosion. Probe teams are currently mapping the vehicle's subsequent route toward Daryaganj and Kashmiri Gate while analysing communication data to pinpoint other potential suspects.
