Lakhimpur Kheri (UP): A speeding roadways bus rammed into a motorcycle in Lakhimpur Kheri on Tuesday evening, killing four members of a family, while a four-year-old girl survived with injuries, police said.
The accident took place on the Mailani-Khutar national highway when the family was returning home after attending the last rites of Radha’s mother in Sansarpur village, said Circle Officer (CO) Gola Gavendra Pal Gautam.
The deceased were identified as Shiv Kumar (32), his wife Radha (28), his father Data Ram (60), and his son Vedansh (8). The couple’s daughter, Shivi (4), was injured in the crash and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to officials, the accident occurred when a speeding Uttarakhand roadways bus hit the family's motorcycle.
"The bus driver fled from the scene after the accident, while the police seized the vehicle for further investigation," CO Gautam stated.
Police confirmed that the bodies were sent for autopsy, and a detailed probe is underway to track down the bus driver.
