New Delhi: Congress MP Karti Chidambaram in a post on X on Tuesday criticised the Chennai Corporation over poor sanitation and urged the officials to learn waste management from Indore.

"Can the @chennaicorp name one learning & implementation of practice from any of the previous study tours?  Poor garbage management, street dogs & cattle, broken sidewalks & potholed roads is the hallmark of Chennai. Visit Indore to start with," the post by Karti Chidambaram read.

The Congress MP made this comment while he was responding to a post by Namma Chennai which highlighted that officials from Chennai are going to visit Europe in May to study waste management techniques. It added that the World Bank will support the officials' visit to cities like Barcelona to study clean waste management.

"This could help Tamil Nadu adopt better solutions amid protests over local dump yards," the post concluded.

Madhya Pradesh's Indore has emerged as the cleanest city for the seventh consecutive time in a row, as per a report by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

The city was awarded for its waste segregation with a highly effective waste-to-compost system and several, other advanced composting techniques.

The government has also applauded public participation in cleanliness drives.
