Terrorism Strikes Kathua: Exchange Of Firing Between Suspected Terrorists And Security Forces Underway

Kathua: A massive anti-terror operation has been launched in the Hiranagar area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua, following an exchange of massive firing between suspected terrorists and security forces on Sunday. The search operation, which began early morning, led to a massive gunbattle between the terror suspects and the security personnel on Sunday. Reportedly, the security personnel scoured the area, searching for any signs of terrorist activity, when the terror suspects began firing bullets at the security forces. As per sources, three terrorists have been spotted and the security forces are making efforts to neutralise them. 

According to senior officials, the security forces have launched a thorough combing operation to flush out the terrorists. "We have received inputs about the presence of armed suspects in the area," said a senior security official adding that the security forces are taking all necessary precautions to ensure that the terrorists are apprehended.

A senior official stated that a major encounter is underway in Kathua, with security forces locked in a fierce battle with terrorists. Director General (DG) J&K Police, Nalin Prabhat is closely monitoring the situation, having spoken to IG Jammu and DIG JKS to ensure a coordinated response.

All senior officers have been instructed to immediately reach the encounter site to oversee the operation. SP Operation HiraNagar Nasir Khan is leading the team of police personnel in the ongoing encounter.

The official added that the security forces are working tirelessly to neutralise the terrorist threat and ensure the safety of the local population. The J&K Police are also urging citizens to remain calm and cooperate with the security forces.

Recent Terrorist Incidents In Region

In recent months, there have been several incidents of terrorist attacks, including the one in the Sanyal area of Kathua. "The terrorists are trying to create a sense of fear and panic among the locals," said a security expert. "But we will not let them succeed."

The locals, who have been affected by the terrorist activity, are shaken but not intimidated. "We will not let the terrorists dictate our lives," said a local resident, adding, "We will cooperate fully with the security forces to ensure that the terrorists are brought to justice."
