Mumbai: Narayan Rane, Lok Sabha MP and former Union Minister in Modi Govt 2.0, has made a significant claim in Disha Salian’s death case, alleging that Uddhav Thackeray had previously asked him not to mention his son’s name in the press.

Rane stated that Uddhav Thackeray approached him through his personal assistant, now an MLA—Milind Narvekar—who called to convey that Uddhav wanted to speak with him. Rane then instructed Narvekar to hand over the phone to Uddhav Thackeray.

Rane began his conversation with Uddhav by saying "Jai Maharashtra ." The then Chief Minister questioned whether Rane still said "Jai Maharashtra," to which Rane replied that he would continue saying it for as long as he lived.

Rane further claimed that Uddhav Thackeray requested him not to mention his son Aaditya Thackeray’s name in the press. Responding to Uddhav, Rane clarified that he had not named anyone specifically but had stated in the press that a minister was involved. At the time, Aaditya Thackeray was serving as a minister.

"Disha Salian's father had to go to the High Court because he has not received justice until now. Her father felt he would not receive justice from the police, so he went to the High Court. Uddhav Thackeray's PA, who is now probably an MLA, called me. I was also going home at that time, and he (PA) said that Uddhav Thackeray wanted to talk to me... He (PA) asked will you talk? I asked where he was (Uddhav Thackeray) and to give him the phone. As soon as he (Uddhav Thackeray) received the phone, I said Jai Maharahstra. He (Uddhav Thackeray) asked me if I still say Jai Maharashtra, so I replied I would keep saying Jai Maharashtra till I die. Jai Maharashtra is not Matoshri's property. It is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's property...After that, he (Uddhav Thackeray) asked me not to take his son's (Aaditya Thackeray) name in the press... I said I have not taken anyone's name...I said (in the press) that a minister is involved... He (Aaditya Thackeray) was a minister when this incident of Sushant Singh and Disha Salian happened...Everyone knew about this, and there was evidence, too…,” Narayan Rane in a statement.

Rane claims doctor was changed during postmortem

Further elaborating on his conversation with Uddhav Thackeray during the time when Disha Salian case had surfaced, Narayan Rane revealed that he received a call from Milind Narvekar while crossing Bandra. Narvekar informed him that "Saheb" (Uddhav) wanted to speak with him.

On the phone, Uddhav told Rane that they both have children, but Rane’s son was repeatedly mentioning Aaditya’s name, and he should refrain from doing so.

Rane also disclosed that he received a second call from Uddhav during the Covid period, while he was inaugurating a hospital. During this call, Uddhav sought permission for the hospital and allegedly claimed that pressure was exerted on Disha Salian’s family, including a change of doctor during the postmortem.

Speaking on Disha Salian’s case, Narayan Rane stated that regardless of the court’s decision, they are demanding that an FIR be filed and arrests be made in connection with the case.
