Chamoli: The search operation has concluded in the Mana avalanche incident in Uttarakhand's Chamoli, following the recovery of the body of the last missing BRO worker. The discovery of the body of the last missing worker brings the total death toll to 8, leaving families and loved ones to mourn the loss of their dear ones. The tragic incident trapped 54 workers under heavy snow, who were rescued from the site and shifted to various hospitals. The Indian Army has confirmed the death of eight workers in the incident.
After a meticulous and challenging search operation, rescue teams have successfully located the body of the last missing worker, amidst the efforts, which were hindered by harsh weather conditions and treacherous terrain. The rescue teams, consisting of the Indian Army, SDRF, and NDRF, worked tirelessly for nearly 72 hours since the avalanche struck the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp early Friday morning, between 5.30 and 6 am.
As the search operation comes to a close, an investigation into the Mana avalanche incident is expected to follow. Authorities will examine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy to determine the cause and identify measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

As rescue efforts concluded in the Mana village, located in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, the Indian Army has reported that eight workers have died in the unfortunate incident. Out of the 46 workers, who were rescued, have been transported to the Army hospital in Jyotirmath. One of these patients is in critical condition, while others are dealing with fractures or minor injuries. Although eight workers from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) have died, all remaining patients have stable vital signs, and specialist doctors at the hospital are performing necessary exams.
The Indian Army, SDRF and NDRF teams were at work for the last nearly 72 hours after an avalanche hit the BRO camp located between Mana and Badrinath early Friday morning, between 5.30 and 6 am. According to the Army, the incident trapped workers inside eight containers and one shed. Rain and snowfall complicated rescue efforts on Friday, leading to a halt in operations as night fell. Fortunately, with better weather on Saturday, helicopter support was added to the rescue operations.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister has been constantly in touch with the rescue teams, has done an aerial survey of the accident site and has also briefed the situation and rescue operations update to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had dialed Dhami. The Uttarakhand CM also met the injured workers at the Army Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
