New Delhi: In a tragic incident that has left the city in shock, a reckless joyride turned fatal as a speeding car, driven by Rakshit Chaurasia, a law student from MSU, collided with multiple two-wheelers, killing a woman and injuring four others. The car, registered to Rakshit's friend Meet Praanshu Chauhan, a student from Parul University, was racing through Vadodara when the deadly crash occurred. Accused Rakshit, a resident of Varanasi, is a law student living in a PG accommodation in Vadodara.

Panna Momaya, DCP of Zone 4, Vadodara, confirmed the details of the incident, stating, "The car was coming from Sangam to Muktanad Circle at a dangerously high speed. One woman died instantly, and four others were injured in the crash. Rakshit Chaurasia, a law student from MSU, was driving Meet Praanshu Chauhan’s car when the accident happened. The investigation is ongoing, but we are specifically looking into the over-speeding angle."

As per reports, the deadly accident occurred around 12.30 am near Muktanand crossroads, sparking widespread outrage and concerns about drunk driving. According to eyewitnesses, Rakshit Chaurasiya appeared intoxicated and was screaming "another round, another round" after the crash.

The deceased woman has been identified as Hemali Patel, who was riding her scooter when the car rammed into her.

"Primarily, the car was over speeding. This can also be a case of drunk driving. We will conduct his medical test to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol," said DCP Panna Momaya.

The car, which belonged to Rakshit's friend Mit Chauhan, had a wrecked front portion after the crash. Chauhan, who was sitting in the co-driver's seat, blamed Rakshit for the accident. As per the police, the accused was arrested after the accident.

In a similar incident last year, a drunk driver crashed into a group of pedestrians in Pune, killing two people. The driver, a teenager, was later arrested and charged with culpable homicide.

The incident in Vadodara is not an isolated one as there have been several cases of drunk driving and reckless behavior on Indian roads in recent months. In Bangalore, a drunk driver was arrested for crashing into a pedestrian, while in Mumbai, a speeding car driven by a drunk driver killed two people.

The police have initiated further legal action against the accused. The medical test results are awaited to determine whether the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Further legal action into the matter is being taken.
