New Delhi: Vedic scholar Dushyant Sridhar in an exclusive conversation with Republic Media Network hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting religious values and India's drastic shift towards religious consciousness especially among young people.

"As a speaker who gives Pravachanam across India and worldwide, I see the change in the age group between 20 to 50. There's a surge in religious connections, especially among the young Indians," Sridhar told Republic's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami.

"I attribute this change to the Honourable Prime Minister because as a head of the country it was deemed in the past to not be part of religious functions. But our Prime Minister promotes religious values by visiting the temples and performing other religious activities, without passing on his duties," the scholar added.

Further in the candid conversation, Sridhar, author of Ramayanam Volume 1 emphasised on that a person must read as it helps one understand "the dos and don’ts of human beings."

"One must read the Ramayanam to understand the dos and don’ts of human beings. Everyone must read the book irrespective of their religion."

When asked how he answers the questions of readers these days, he said, "I explored the commentaries that address the questions of the readers, especially the younger generation,"

The Ramayanam has been a base for the Indian civilisation from time immemorial, inspiring a galaxy of ports, and dramatists who dived deeply into its narrative of 24,000 verses.
