Agartala: The Tripura Government has advised local authorities to verify the safety of tap water and advised the public to consume safe drinking water due to the possibility of water contamination, which poses a significant health risk.

The department further advised boiling water and using bleach or chlorine tablets for purification.

"For clear water, add 1/8 teaspoon of bleach per gallon; for cloudy water, add 1/2 teaspoon. Allow 30 minutes before using. Store water in clean, covered containers, and disinfect them regularly. Wells and tanks should be super-chlorinated by adding a paste made from bleaching powder and water," officials said.

Tripura Chief Minister had earlier visited the shelter house at Bokafa HS School, where 305 flood-displaced individuals have taken refuge. 

He instructed officials to deliver essential support and amenities to ensure the comfort and well-being of those affected by the floods.

"Visited the Bokafa HS school shelter house, where 305 flood-affected individuals have sought refuge after losing everything. I've directed officials to provide essential support & amenities to ensure their comfort & well-being. We're committed to standing by them through this challenging time," CM Manik Saha said.

The National Disaster Response Force said that 4 NDRF teams were deployed and engaged in rescue operations in South Tripura, Unakoti, Khowai and West Tripura.

In a post on X, NDRF said, "4 NDRF teams deployed & engaged in Flood Water Rescue (FWR) in South Tripura, Unakoti, Khowai and West Tripura. Evacuated 936 people and 38 livestock. 7 additional teams airlifted to Agartala for FWR Ops in Gomati, Sepahijala and other flood-affected areas."Meanwhile, on Friday CM Manik Saha visited the flood-affected areas of Udaipur, Gomati district, which have been severely damaged due to heavy rains."
