VIDEO | Ghaziabad Dog Beaten, Buried Alive; FIR Registered After PETA India Intervention

An FIR has been registered in Ghaziabad after a community dog was allegedly beaten with sticks and a cricket bat before being dragged to a nearby ground and buried alive while critically injured. Republic TV has accessed a copy of the FIR, which details the allegations against the accused.

The incident reportedly took place on July 18, 2026, in Modinagar. According to the complaint, two brothers, Aman and Mukul, allegedly attacked the community dog before taking it to a nearby ground. A video of the incident purportedly shows the two men carrying a stick and a spade, allegedly preparing to dig a pit and bury the injured animal.

The matter came to the attention of local volunteer Vibhor Kataria and Sandeep Gupta, a member of the Ghaziabad Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). PETA India subsequently intervened and worked with the Modinagar Police to ensure that the complaint was formally registered.

According to the FIR accessed by Republic TV, the case has been registered under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Section 325 of the BNS deals with offences involving killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering an animal useless. The provision carries a punishment of up to five years in prison, a fine, or both.

NGO Calls For Action Against Animal Cruelty

In an exclusive conversation with Republic TV, PETA India Cruelty Response Coordinator Ishani Rathee said incidents of animal cruelty should not be ignored and urged people to report such cases to the police.

“Those who abuse animals often move on to harming other animals and humans. For everyone’s safety, it’s imperative that members of the public report cruelty to animals such as this one to the police,” Rathee said.
She also commended Modinagar police officials for directing the registration of the FIR, saying it sent a clear message that cruelty towards animals would not be tolerated.
