Video: Okhla Underpass Closed For Traffic Due To Waterlogging, Delhi Police Issues Advisory
The Delhi Traffic Police on Sunday restricted vehicular movement in the Okhla underpass due to waterlogging on Sunday.

New Delhi: Commuters are facing difficulty as the Okhla Underpass has been closed for vehicular movement due to heavy waterlogging following rainfall in the national capital. The Okhla underpass has been submerged following heavy rain on Friday. Heavy rains lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Friday and Saturday causing waterlogging and traffic snarls across the national capital.
The Delhi Traffic Police on Sunday restricted vehicular movement in the Okhla underpass due to waterlogging. The Delhi Traffic Police has asked the commuters to plan their journey accordingly. "Movement of traffic is restricted at Okhla Underpass due to waterlogging. Kindly plan your journey accordingly," the Police posted on X.
This comes a day after a a 60-year-old man drowned in the underpass. However, the commuters complained over the move, asserting that their travel time has been increased due to Delhi Traffic Police closing down the Okhla underpass.
"I have been taking this route some time but never seen it get waterlogged. The route above the underpass is also closed. I was going for some work near Crown Plaza. I have to take another route now," said a commuter Sonu Gupta, as quoted by PTI.
Another commuter Rajesh Kumar said he had been looking for an alternative route after getting stuck in a traffic jam for several hours near the underpass on Friday and Saturday.
Delhi To Receive Heavy Rainfall in Coming Days
Delhi, along with several cities of North India, has been reeling under intense heatwave conditions since May, and the recent rainfall has brought the much-needed respite.
Further, the national capital is likely to witness heavy rain on Sunday, as per the prediction of the Indian Meteorological Department. The IMD has issued an orange' alert for Delhi till July 2.
The weather department has predicted a generally cloudy sky with heavy rain till Tuesday. The IMD has four colour-coded warnings -- 'green' (no action needed), 'yellow' (watch and stay updated), 'orange' (be prepared) and 'red' (take action).
