New Delhi: As Team India ended the ICC drought by winning the T20 World Cup in Barbados on Saturday, the citizens were out on the streets celebrating the victory. However, the celebration did not remain limited to the streets of India, but same enthusiasm was seen 40,000 feet above sea level.

India defeated South Africa in the final to win the T20 World Cup after winning the maiden T20 WC in 2007. Celebrations took place in the air as passengers in a London-bound Vistara flight were watching the match live on their laptops.

A video shared on micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter) by a user Vinamra Longani showed passengers of a Vistara flight cheering for India as they watch the match live on their laptops. Longani said that the video was shared with him by his friend who was on the flight and was watching the match live on his laptop.

“#TeamIndia's win of the #T20WorldCup2024 being celebrated 40,000 ft in the air on a Vistara Air flight enroute London ! My friend @i_hardeepsingh (in yellow watching the match on his laptop) just sent me this. You have got to love In-flight WiFi !” said the user in his post on X.

The passenger Hardeep Singh wrote a thanking note to Vistara, saying that he could enjoy the victory due to the seamless in-flight wifi services. "Flying @airvistara turned out to be lucky. All World Cup finals on board UK now! Or AirIndia once the merger is done! Anyway - this was a great experience. The matched streamed perfectly. Ball by ball! The airlines we deserve (sic)," said Hardeep Singh, while replying to Longani's post. To this Longani said, “Yup. Currently the only Indian airline to offer inflight Wi-Fi.”

India defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the T20 World Cup on Saturday, thus ending the 11-year long drought of winning an ICC tournament. Following the victory, both Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from the format.
