New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon visited Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, where they paid obeisance and offered prayers. A video from the visit captures the two leaders engaging in the solemn ritual, reflecting their respect for Sikh traditions and spiritual harmony.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his pleasure in welcoming New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to Delhi, calling it "a matter of immense joy." He described Luxon as a "youthful, dynamic, and energetic leader" and shared his excitement about Luxon serving as the Chief Guest at the prestigious Raisina Dialogue.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, "It is a matter of immense joy to be welcoming Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to Delhi. It is equally gladdening that such a youthful, dynamic and energetic leader will be the Chief Guest at this year's Raisina Dialogue."

Highlighting their earlier bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Modi stated, "We had wide-ranging talks earlier today, covering all important sectors relating to India-New Zealand friendship."

PM Modi and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon also held discussions at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared details of the meeting on X, stating, "PM Narendra Modi warmly welcomed PM Christopher Luxon of New Zealand at Hyderabad House today. Extensive discussions on bilateral relationships lie ahead."

During their talks, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and addressing global challenges. Speaking in a joint press statement, PM Modi underscored shared concerns over terrorism, referencing past attacks in both nations. He condemned terrorism in all forms, citing the 2019 Christchurch attack and the 26/11 Mumbai tragedy, while stressing the need for strict action against terror networks and separatist elements.

The two leaders also pledged to combat terrorism and violent extremism through both bilateral and multilateral mechanisms.

Luxon arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for a five-day official visit to attend the Raisina Dialogue 2025. Earlier in the day, he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. The visit comes amid efforts to enhance economic cooperation, expand trade, and address regional security challenges. Notably, the two nations have also announced negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), marking a significant step in deepening economic engagement.
