Video Shows Fighter Jets Escorting American Airlines Flight After Bomb Threat

Rome: A dramatic video surfaced on social media, showing American Airlines Flight AA292, travelling from New York to Delhi, being escorted by Italian Air Force Eurofighters following a bomb threat. According to the information, the Delhi-bound American Airlines flight was diverted to Rome-Fiumicino on Sunday after receiving a bomb threat. Reports suggested that the flight, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, was escorted out of the sky by two Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon warplanes following the alert and was eventually grounded in Italy's Rome.  

According to Flight Radar 24, the plane was grounded because of a bomb threat.  

It is being reported that the Boeing 787-9, registered as N840AN, was intercepted by the Eurofighters as it entered Italian airspace and was flying near Turkmenistan. The flight made a U-turn and was grounded in Rome. Video footage captured the intense moment, showing the fighter jets flanking the passenger plane as it made its way to Rome's Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport.

According to reports, the flight crew received a bomb threat, prompting them to divert the plane to Rome. Italian authorities scrambled the Eurofighters to escort the plane to the airport, where it landed safely.

As the plane landed at the airport, the Italian authorities initiated a search operation and investigated the source of the bomb threat. 

An official stated that the passengers and crew members are being questioned, and the plane is undergoing a thorough search.

American Airlines also released a statement confirming the diversion and thanking authorities for their assistance. "The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority," the statement read. They further added, "We are cooperating fully with authorities and will provide updates as more information becomes available."

The Italian authorities are working to ascertain the credibility of the bomb threat and to identify those responsible.
