Inside Plane Video Shows Panicked Passengers As Delhi-Srinagar Flight Faces Huge Mid-Air Turbulence

New Delhi: A Delhi-Srinagar IndiGo flight encountered severe mid-air turbulence on Wednesday. A video that has surfaced and is going viral on social media shows passengers reciting prayers in panic as their plane battles stormy weather above the clouds.

According to reports, IndiGo flight 6E-2142, operating from Delhi to Srinagar with 227 passengers on board, faced intense turbulence due to a hailstorm. The storm caused damage to the aircraft’s nose, triggering panic among passengers.

The pilot reported an emergency to Srinagar ATC, but the flight landed safely at 6:30 PM. All passengers and crew were unharmed. The airline has declared the aircraft on ground (AOG) for inspection and maintenance.

IndiGo stated that flight 6E-2142 encountered a sudden hailstorm en route. The flight and cabin crew followed established protocol, ensuring the aircraft landed safely in Srinagar.

Upon arrival, airport personnel attended to the passengers, prioritising their well-being and comfort. The aircraft will be cleared for operations following necessary inspections and maintenance.

The powerful hailstorm inflicted significant damage to the aircraft’s nose. Upon landing, a visible hole in the nose of the IndiGo flight confirmed the extent of the damage.

As per airport sources, many domestic and international flights to Delhi airport from various airports have been halted or diverted due to extreme weather conditions in Delhi.

The IndiGo flight encountered severe mid-air turbulence on Wednesday as Delhi-NCR and several other regions in northern India experienced a sudden shift in weather, marked by a powerful hailstorm, thunderstorm, and heavy rainfall.

Several airlines issued advisories, urging passengers to check their flight schedules for possible changes due to the storm.

Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR faced a major power outage after numerous trees were uprooted during the storm, damaging wires and poles, which disrupted the power supply in several areas. The storm also led to damaged vehicles and severe traffic congestion across the region.
