Weather Forecast: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for heavy rain in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan as March began on a wet note. The sudden change in weather was triggered by a Western Disturbance, which also brought snowfall and rain to Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, officials said.
Delhi-NCR to Witness Strong Winds, Heavy Rain
The National Capital Region (NCR) witnessed strong winds at 30-40 km/h, and the IMD predicted heavy rain with a storm on March 1, causing a drop in maximum temperatures.
“People may have to face heavy rain along with strong storms on March 1, due to which a drop in maximum mercury will be recorded,” the IMD stated.
Air pollution levels in Delhi remained low amid the weather change. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 111, falling in the moderate category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

In Himachal Pradesh, the Lahaul-Spiti region remained covered with a thick layer of snow, while places like Kullu, Manali, Chamba, Mandi, and Dharamshala witnessed cloudy weather. IMD predicted heavy rain in different areas of Himachal on March 1 and 2.
UP & Rajasthan Brace for Storms, Hailstorm Expected in Some Areas
In Uttar Pradesh, cloudy skies and rain were predicted in Lucknow and several other districts, including Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, and Rampur.
“On March 1, rain and hailstorms are expected in western UP districts such as Baghpat, Hapur, Bijnor, and Amroha,” IMD officials said.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan experienced a slight drop in temperature due to cloudy weather. IMD forecasted light to moderate rain in eight districts, with hailstorms and lightning expected in some areas due to the Western Disturbance.
The weather department advised residents in affected states to stay updated on forecasts and take necessary precautions.
