New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, and Goa, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on Saturday. The IMD anticipates that intense rainfall will persist in Gujarat and the southern regions of peninsular India until Sunday.

In addition, an orange alert has been declared for Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kutch, and Saurashtra over the weekend. These regions are expected to receive 115-120 mm of rainfall within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the weather agency predicted that light, isolated rainfall will continue in Delhi for three days. 

IMD has forecasted lesser intensity rains to continue through the weekend, with a yellow alert being issued for Mumbai for Saturday, July 20.

Heavy rainfall in Porbandar, Junagadh, and Devbhumi Dwarka districts in Gujarat have caused waterlogging in several areas.

Several districts in Gujarat's Saurashtra region faced a flood-like situation due to heavy rains on Saturday.
Villages were cut off and low-lying areas were flooded.

Dwarka taluka in Devbhumi Dwarka district recorded 163 mm of rainfall in 12 hours until 6 pm on Saturday.
Junagadh city and taluka received 133 mm of rainfall.
Patan-Veraval in Gir Somnath district got 117 mm of rainfall, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).

Due to waterlogging in Mumbai, traffic on the road near Sheetal Cinema and Kale Marg, both in Kurla area, was diverted. Similarly, traffic on the Aarey route in Goregaon east has been diverted via Seepz-Marol Maroshi-JVLR in both directions. Andheri subway has also been temporarily shut for vehicles and traffic has been diverted to S V Road.
