Mumbai: Baba Siddique, who was shot dead at his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra East on Saturday, was a former Maharashtra Minister and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader. Besides being a prominent political face in Maharashtra , Baba Siddique was well known for his grand Iftar parties, attended by top Bollywood stars, politicians, and other eminent personalities from various fields. With attendees like film star Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone , Ranveer Singh , Emraan Hashmi, Shehnaaz Gill, Preity Zinta , Huma Qureshi, Vijay Verma and others, Baba Siddique’s Iftar parties had become a staple in the political and social circuit of Mumbai.
Baba Siddique was a former MLA from the Bandra East constituency in Mumbai. According to police sources, Baba Siddique's proximity to a Bollywood star, who received multiple threats, has led the Mumbai Police to suspect Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi Gang's involvement in the sensational killing. Baba Siddique Remained With Congress For 48 Years
Baba Siddique, a veteran politician, had recently made headlines by quitting Congress after 48 years and joining Ajit Pawar 's NCP. In a scathing attack on his former party, he had compared his treatment in Congress to curry leaves, which are used to enhance flavour but have no value themselves.
Notably, Baba Siddique's son, Zeeshan, is a Congress MLA from Bandra (East) in Mumbai. However, Zeeshan was expelled from the party in August for anti-party activities.

Baba Siddique Was 3 Times MLA
Baba Siddique was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Maharashtra representing the Vandre West Assembly constituency. He was the MLA for three consecutive terms in 1999, 2004 and 2009, and had also served as a Minister of State for Food & Civil Supplies, Labour and FDA.
In February 2024, Baba Siddique resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party and joined the Nationalist Congress Party led by Ajit Pawar on February 12.
