Woman Kills Husband After He Refuses Divorce, Plots Murder with Son and Two Others

Thane: Days after a 38-year-old man’s body was recovered from Ulwe in Navi Mumbai, police arrested his wife and two others for allegedly murdering him, officials said on Friday. The couple’s teenage son was also detained and sent to a remand home.

Body Found on Bridge, Wife’s Suspicious Behavior Led to Arrests

The victim, Sachin More, was found dead on February 23 on a creek bridge in Vavhal village, police said. Initially, his identity was unknown, and officials registered a case of accidental death.

"Meanwhile, a woman and her son came to the police station complaining that her husband had gone missing since February 22. The police showed the photo of the victim to the mother-son duo, who identified him," an official said.

However, when police questioned the wife about her husband’s disappearance, she gave evasive answers, raising suspicion. Investigators then checked her mobile phone records and CCTV footage near their house.

Autopsy Report Revealed Murder, Wife Confessed During Probe

A forensic autopsy revealed that More had died of suffocation, as his nose and mouth were gagged. Following this, police registered a case of murder.

"During her interrogation, the woman said her husband harassed her and she wanted a divorce," the official said.

Since More refused to divorce her, she allegedly plotted his murder with her son, friend Rohit Temkar, and autorickshaw driver Pratamesh Mhatre.

Poisoned Juice, Strangulation, and a Body Dumped on the Bridge

As per the murder plot, the woman mixed a sleep-inducing drug in bitter gourd juice and gave it to her husband. Once he fell unconscious, they put him in an autorickshaw.

Later, she strangled him using a long cloth before dumping his body on the bridge, the police said.

After completing the investigation, police arrested the wife, Temkar, and Mhatre on Thursday. Meanwhile, her 16-year-old son was detained and sent to a remand home.

The three accused were presented before a court, which remanded them in police custody till March 5.
