New Delhi: Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, on Friday, said India was working on three plans to ensure Pakistan doesn't get a single drop of water.

Following the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, Paatil said India was developing three strategies to block all water flow to Pakistan.

Paatil announced that the government has formulated short-term, mid-term, and long-term plans to ensure Pakistan does not receive a 'single drop of water.'

Paatil told ANI, “A roadmap was prepared in the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah . Three options were discussed in the meeting. The government is working on short-term, medium-term, and long-term measures so that not even a drop of water goes to Pakistan. Soon, desilting of rivers will be done to stop the water and divert it."

Paatil said Prime Minister Narendra Modi , in a high-level meeting chaired by Union Minister Amit Shah, issued a slew of directives, and the meeting was held to follow up on them. As per sources, the government is working on a long-term plan to ensure the decisions are effectively implemented.

India Leaves Pakistan High And Dry With Suspension Of Indus Water Treaty

India, on Thursday, formally informed Pakistan of its decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty with immediate effect, citing Islamabad’s violation of treaty terms.

The move came in the aftermath of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, which killed 26 people and injured several.

"The Govt of India has hereby decided that the Indus Waters Treaty 1960 will be held in abeyance with immediate effect," reads a letter from Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti to Syed Ali Murtaza, Secretary of Pakistan Ministry of Water Resources.

India stated that Pakistan’s persistent cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir undermined its rights under the 1960 treaty, which assigned the eastern rivers (Sutlej, Beas, Ravi) to India and the western rivers (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab) to Pakistan.
