Mumbai: Months after the horrific Pune Porsche Crash, there has been another hit-and-run case in Maharashtra, this time in Mumbai. Son of a Shiv Sena leader allegedly rammed his BMW into a scooter in Worli, killing a woman and seriously injuring the woman's husband.
While the main accused is on the run, two people have been arrested in the case and according to the latest update, cops suspect that the girlfriend of the main accused had helped him hide after the accident.
In a latest update in the Worli Hit-and-Run Case, the cops are suspecting that Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah's son, Mihir Shah who is the prime accused in the case and absconding, was helped by his girlfriend in hiding after the accident.
The girlfriend of the Shiv Sena leader's son has also been called for questioning by the cops as they suspect that she helped him hide after the accident that killed a woman.
The Mumbai Police has already made two arrests in the hit-and-run case. The Shiv Sena leader and father of the accused, Rajesh Shah and Raj Rishi Rajendra Singh Vidawat have been arrested; the two will be presented in court today.
The main accused is on the run and the police is looking for him; a total of six teams have been formed for the same.
According to sources, a fisherman and his wife were on the bike when this mishap took place at 5:30 in the morning near the Atria Mall.
The couple, who lived in the Worli Koliwada area, was returning after buying fish from the Sassoon Dock early morning when the car rammed into their bike, police said.
Such was the severity of the accident that the couple's two-wheeler overturned and threw both Pradip and Kaveri onto the bonnet of the car.
As per cops, while Pradip managed to jump off the bonnet, Kaveri ended up getting dragged for nearly two kilometres before getting flung on the road.
The couple was then rushed to the hospital, where the woman succumbed to her injuries, while the husband was being treated in the hospital.
Speaking about the deadly hit-and-run case in Mumbai's Worli, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “The law is equal for all and the government sees every case in the same way. There will be no separate rule for this accident. Everything will be done as per the law.”
He further added, “The police will not shield anyone. The Mumbai accident is unfortunate. I have spoken to the police department to take strict action.”
