Jaipur: As September approaches, the Jaipur Polo Team prepares to begin another important chapter in one of India’s most distinguished sporting traditions. Running through March, the forthcoming season will bring together competitive polo, exceptional horsemanship and the enduring heritage of a team whose name has long been synonymous with the sport.
The new campaign follows a memorable summer in England, where the Jaipur Polo Team lifted the 2026 Jaipur Trophy at Guards Polo Club during Indian Polo Day. Playing on The Queen’s Ground, the team secured a closely contested 7-6 victory, carrying Jaipur’s colours to success on one of polo’s most celebrated international stages.
The victory holds particular resonance for a team whose relationship with British polo stretches back nearly a century. In 1933, Jaipur achieved an extraordinary sweep of the major tournaments it contested in England, establishing the team among the leading polo institutions of its era.
Founded under the patronage of HH Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, the Jaipur Polo Team has carried the city’s sporting legacy across generations and continents. Today, under the leadership of HH Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh, the team continues to honour that inheritance while building a contemporary and internationally engaged future for Jaipur polo.

The team enters the coming season with considerable momentum. During its previous Indian campaign, Jaipur competed in 21 matches, recording 17 victories, securing three tournament titles and scoring 164 goals. Semi-final appearances across all six tournaments reflected not merely moments of brilliance, but the consistency and competitive spirit that have become hallmarks of the team.
Beginning in September, the new season is expected to feature an extensive programme of tournaments and exhibition matches across India’s principal polo centres, before returning to Jaipur for some of the calendar’s most anticipated competitions. The months ahead promise formidable contests, established rivalries and opportunities for both experienced followers and those discovering the sport for the first time.

Polo in Jaipur has never belonged only to the players on the field. Its atmosphere is shaped equally by the spectators gathered along the sidelines, families spending an afternoon at the ground, young enthusiasts encountering the sport and generations of patrons who have helped preserve its traditions.
As the horses return to training and preparations gather pace, residents and visitors alike are invited to experience the season from the grounds – to watch the speed and skill of the game, support the teams and participate in a living tradition that remains an integral part of Jaipur’s identity.
The first throw-in will mark more than the beginning of another sporting calendar. It will signal Jaipur’s return to the polo field, strengthened by international success and ready for a grand season ahead.
The 2026-27 Jaipur Polo Season begins on 1st September at the Rajasthan Polo Club (RPC) Grounds, Jaipur, marking the beginning of another exciting chapter in the city's polo calendar, with a series of prestigious tournaments scheduled throughout the season.
