On August 26th, a prominent auto industry leader – himself the harbinger of change from humble scooters to performance-oriented motorcycles (and storied badges like the Pulsar) commented on the electric motorcycling segment, stating, "Scooters in the EV format hold far more potential than motorcycles" and dismissed homegrown brands pushing innovation in Electric Motorcycles. He went on to comment on their Sales figures – a metric that beggars belief as innovation cuts at both ends – the upper end of the pyramid as well as the value segment that he’s very well versed in.

Name dropped & dismissed, the fledgling brand at the centre of the scorn – Ultraviolette did not choose to take it on the chin and move on. In a hard hitting segment with a prominent channel, Narayan Subramaniam issued a clarion call to the industry – “We will not be only known for Value Engineering”.

To this end, he has challenged everyone in the industry to do what only Auto manufacturers can – to put their money where their mouth is – and stop ceding ground on the performance end of the spectrum to Eastern/Western brands. In 90 days’ time, Ultraviolette has invited the industry to meet them (in said industrialist’s own back yard – Pune and thereabouts) with the “best of what they have – for decades of R&D and billions in the bank” and prove their mettle in the best way possible. In a race.
