Your pets are a part of your extended family. They are your friend, your loyal companion and your support. The only thing they demand in return is love, care and foods that will keep them satiated and happy. Our pets are fully dependent on us to fulfill these basic needs, so it is important that we feed them what is healthy and tasty. There is a long list of foods that are dangerous for your pets’ health. Here are some things you should never feed your pets.

Chocolate

Chocolate might be your favourite, but it is poison for your pet. It contains theobromine, a substance that is toxic to dogs and cats. Dark chocolate is particularly high in theobromine and can lead to symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, increased heart rate, and even seizures.

Grapes and raisins

Both of these foods can cause kidney failure in dogs. Even small amounts can be harmful, leading to symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain.

Onions and garlic

Both onions and garlic contain compounds that can damage red blood cells in dogs and cats. Ingesting these foods may lead to anemia, weakness, and gastrointestinal issues in your beloved pets.

Alcohol

It goes without saying that your pets cannot have alcohol in any form. Alcoholic beverages can have severe effects on pets, including intoxication, respiratory failure, and even death. Keep alcoholic drinks out of reach and never allow pets to consume them.

Caffeine

Mostly found in coffee, tea, and energy drinks, caffeine can cause restlessness, rapid breathing, heart palpitations, and muscle tremors in pets. Keep caffeinated beverages away from the reach of your innocent pets.

Cooked bones

We all just assume that bones are a great treat for our pets. While bones may seem like a natural treat, cooked bones can splinter and cause choking or lead to intestinal blockages. Avoid giving pets cooked bones, especially those from poultry.

High-fat foods

Fatty foods like bacon, deep-fried items, and fatty cuts of meat can lead to pancreatitis in pets. This condition is painful and can be life-threatening, especially in senior pets.

Dairy products

Do you also think feeding your pets milk and cheese everyday is safe? You will be surprised to know that many pets are lactose intolerant, and feeding them dairy products can result in digestive upset, including diarrhea and stomach discomfort.
