It's a special day for all dog lovers, a day to treat your furry friend with all the love and attention they deserve. International Dog Day was first observed in 2004, initiated by Colleen Paige, an animal welfare activist and pet lifestyle expert.

According to sources, Paige chose August 26 to celebrate International Dog Day because it was the same day her family adopted their first dog, Sheltie, from an animal shelter.

Here are some fun ideas to celebrate International Dog Day 2024:

Yoga: Dogs are naturally flexible and active. If your dog sees you on a yoga mat, chances are they’ll join in without needing an invitation.

Date: Pack a basket with a few of your dog’s favourite toys and some cookies. Set out on a date with your beloved pet and make the most of this day.

Spa: Dogs provide us with endless support, so let's not forget that they also get tired and need special care. Use International Dog Day 2024 as an excuse to pamper and spoil your furry friend with a spa treatment.

Photoshoot: Once your pet is all glammed up, capture a picture to remember for a lifetime.

Painting: It might sound impossible, but there’s a fun hack. Put a mixture of colourful paints into a ziplock bag, place your pet's favourite toy inside, and let them play. By the end, you’ll have a beautiful piece of art created by your pet.
