Procedure:

  • The first step in the procedure to make a paper pataka is to take a 22 by 28 cm sheet of standard A4 size printer paper and lay it flat on a surface.
  • Fold the bottom fourth of the paper, which should be around 2.5 inches or 6.4 cm into a horizontal fold and apply a sharp crease. Make the fold away from you and run your fingertip on the edges so that you get a firm and crisp fold.
  • Once that is done, fold another 2.5 inches of the paper up, as explained in step 2. With this, you should have around 1 inch of unfolded paper left.
  • The next step is to flip the paper and fold it in half in such a way that the unfolded portion is now at the bottom. Fold the paper in another half again, giving it a vertical crease. You should now a square shape with the folds on the outside.
  • Take the folded edge of the top bar of the paper (the part which you folded up earlier) and give it a pinch with your hand. Now take the bottom corner on the other hand.
  • Now pull the bar up while pushing the unfolded portion downwards in the opposite direction. With this, you will create two loops from the folded bar. Pinch the bottom corners of the looped papers.
  • Remember that you should not pinch the paper hard or hold the unfolded part in the middle because you won’t be able to snap it like that.
  • Lastly, raise your arm and then bring it down like you are snapping a pataka.
