William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was the most famous author, poet and playwriter during his era. He was considered as the greatest writer of the English language of the 16th century. His work is studied by students of literature and drama. Apart from his quotes and plays some of his famous books were Hamlet, Romeo Juliet, Othello and Macbeth which were then turned into plays.

George Eliot

Mary Anne Evans who assumed the pseudonym George Eliot was an author of the 19th century. Her books were mostly political and she focused mostly on small-town issues and concerns of the Victorian era. Some of her famous classic novels were The Mill on the Floss, Adam Bede, Silas Marner, Romola, Felix Holt, Daniel Deronda and her most famous book was the Middlemarch.

Jane Austen

Jane Austen books are considered classics in many ways. She is also considered as one of the best woman writers to pen down romantic novels. Her books always revolved around a young girl and the challenges the girl faced. Some of her great romantic books include Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma. Some of her books are even turned into plays and movies.

Charles Dickens

One of the most prominent writers who started as a journalist was Charles Dickens. He began his career by writing small pieces for a journal as soon went on to become a best-selling author. It is believed that English literature would be incomplete without the characters from Charles Dicken books. His classic novels were Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities, Bleak House.

J.K Rowling

Joanne Rowling popularly known as J.K Rowling is a British author who penned down the very famous series Harry Potter. At the age of 18, the author reportedly suffered from depression. It was during that period that she started penning down her imagination and that his how the characters of Harry Potter were introduced. She has written seven books on Harry Potter which was even turned into blockbuster movies.
