India has diverse forms of art and literature. Whether it is dance, yoga, music or books; Indians have proved their excellence to the world with creativity in all the art-forms. Many writers and authors have written some heart wrecking books that have been translated into several languages. Here are some of the good books that were translated into multiple languages.

Cobalt Blue

Cobalt Blue is a story of love and heartbreak. This story is written by Sachin Kundalkar, who is a Marathi writer. Sachin is also an award-winning film director. Cobalt Blue is his first novel which revolves around a love triangle where a family falls in love with a guest. It also breaks many norms of society and brings forward some gender liberal ideas.

Bharathipura

Bharathipura, written by Padma Bhushan award winner U. R. Ananthamurthy, is a book based on norms and superstitious culture of India. Other than Padma Bhushan, U. R. Ananthamurthy has also received the Jnanpith Award for his exceptional work in Kannada literature. The plot of Bharathipura revolves around the practice of untouchability and the caste system in India. Jagannatha, a well-educated man, stands up against the cast system fighting for the rights of the untouchability. This leads to a lot of violence in the storyline.

Umrao Jan Ada

Mirza Muhammad Hadi Ruswa, a well-known Urdu poet and writer, wrote his first novel Umrao Jan Ada. This book is considered to be the first Urdu novel by many avid reads. The book is based on the life story of Umrao Jan, a dancer in Lucknow. The plot of the book reveals Umrao's story from the time she was kidnapped and sold to Khanum Jaan, the head of the ‘Kotha’. The story is all about Umrao's failed love affairs, her search for peace, the rejection by her family to accept her and her dreadful destiny.
