In winters the humidity level of the air is very low, making the air very dry. So in winters, when the skin comes in contact with the air, the water from our skin evaporates much more quickly, leaving skin to feel very dry and stretched. It is very common for the skin to feel flaky and dry. So, here is a list of things you can do to protect your skin from drying this winter.

Stay hydrated

One cannot emphasise enough on the importance of staying hydrated. It is true that during winters the water intake and retention decrease significantly. It so happens because we do not perspire in winters as much as we perspire in other seasons. Therefore, it becomes essential that we make conscious efforts to keep ourselves hydrated. One of the easiest ways to do that is by drinking water even if you do not feel thirsty throughout the day. If you do not want to drink water, then take other steps towards staying hydrated, like, having juice, consuming milk, and tea without milk.

Eat Fruits

In winters, we get a lot of variety of fruits in the market. Having seasonal fruits is a very healthy option because it gives your body important vitamins and minerals. In winters we get fruits which have a lot of water in them too. That way your body stays hydrated and hence the skin remains healthy.

Moisturise

In the Indian subcontinent, we have cool and dry winters. The cold breeze tends to dry the skin out and wanting for that extra care. So, for that extra care, including moisturising in your skincare routine. It is important to keep in mind, that you should apply moisturiser on clean skin. So the best time to moisturise would be right after bathing, scrubbing and cleansing. You can even moisturise at night before sleeping because that will protect your skin from dust and pollution. And skin gets healed during the night’s time. You can apply oils or cream depending upon your preference for moisturising.
