Actresses can never be friends. This statement often surfaces up whenever a newbie enters in the film industry. The rivalry between actresses always become a hot topic, however, a strong and affectionate bong developed between Sridevi and Aishwarya Rai. Did you know, the late veteran actress had once gifted Ash, her precious jewellery?

The video of Aishwarya wearing the necklace circulated on Reddit and made fans nostalgic of their bond. One user commented, “Yes, Manish Malhotra revealed this in an interview, That was a sabyasachi neckpiece, Sridevi got for herself and later gifted to Aishwarya.
There is this unsaid tradition where experienced south actress in Bollywood and the newly joined south heroine used to call each other Akka-Chelli (Elder and younger sisters in telugu). Rekha used to call Vyjayanthimala Akka, Sridevi used to call Rekha Akka, Aishwarya used to call Sridevi Akka. Lets hope Deepika calls Aishwarya the same. Sridevi’s wardrobe had too many sarees gifted by Rekha and vice versa. Thats why Janhvi calls Rekha Pedhamma (Mom’s elder sister)
Aish wore this necklace to an Ambani function post demise of Sridevi as remembrance.”
Another user wrote, “Sweet.. From one beauty to another.” “Simply stunning! I miss this kinda saree days, where the draping and styling looked normal”, wrote the third user. For the unversed, Aishwarya lovingly used to call Sridevi ‘Akka’.
Aishwarya Rai won the Miss World 1994 pageant and later established herself as one of the most-popular and influential celebrities in India. Rai made her acting debut in 1997 with Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Iruvar, a semi-biographical political drama co-starring Mohanlal, Prakash Raj, Tabu and Revathi. The film was a critical success.
Her off-screen roles include being an ambassador for several charity organisations and supporting philanthropic causes through her namesake foundation. In 2003, she was the first Indian actress to be a juror at the Cannes Film Festival.
