Having oily skin has advantages as well as disadvantages. Talking about advantages first, if a person has oily skin, it is said that the chances of developing wrinkles are less. However, oily skin requires a lot of care because, in a short time, the face starts oozing out oil from the pores, which is not attractive. When doing a make-up, a person with oily skin has to put in more efforts to avoid looking 'caked '. Here are some of the great hacks one must know while doing make-up for an oily skin.

Use the right primer

If a person wants their make-up to stay oil-proof the entire day, a mattifying primer will prove to be very essential. A mattifying primer will soak up the excess oil on the skin and keep it smooth. It is important to choose the right primer, as many primers are oil-based. If a person with oily skin uses such primers, chances are he/she would appear greasy and unattractive. Some primers contain oil-absorbing ingredients like salicylic acid and hazel, which will help in minimising shine throughout the day. Water-based or silicone-based primers would prove helpful as it helps in softening the appearance of the large pores and scars.

Find the ultimate foundation match

Choose a foundation as per the skin type. The formulas of a foundation will have ingredients to specifically suits only a certain skin type. For oily skin, choose a matte finish, long-lasting foundation so that it does not affect the skin. Always ask for a tester before buying an oil-free foundation because they often oxidise and turn yellow or orangish by the end of the day. Find a good mineral foundation that mattifies on the skin. To see a glow on the skin, mix a glow enhancer with the foundation to get a radiant look.

Use a blotting paper

For oily skin, usage of blotting papers can prove to be magical. These oil-absorbing papers assist in mattifying the skin and recreate the midday shine. Many blotting papers have ingredients such as green tea and witch hazel, which may help in controlling the oil. Gently place the paper over the skin so that it can absorb the oil. Avoid wiping so that the oil does not spread around the face.
