Guru Nanak Jayanti is one of the most sacred festivals of the Sikh community and is observed by a huge number of devotees from all over the globe. This auspicious day will be celebrated on November 12, 2019. The Sikhs visit their holy place, called a Gurudwara, during the festival and also enjoy a special langar at the Gurudwaras. There are thousands of Gurudwaras throughout the county. Here’s a list of some famous gurudwaras in India.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, New Delhi

This Gurudwara is located in the heart of Delhi, just next to the very famous Sacred Heart Cathedral. This particular holy place is one of the most peaceful spots to get to some time for yourself. A lot of Bollywood films have been shot at this location; Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 being one of them. The monument was built in the 17th and the 18th centuries and the interesting thing about this gurudwara is that it was initially a bungalow that was later constructed into a Gurudwara built to commemorate the stay of the eighth Sikh Guru, Har Krishan.

Gurudwara Baba Atal Sahib, Punjab

The Gurudwara is located in Amritsar, Punjab and is often overshadowed by the Golden Temple, which is located in the same city. But this Gurudwara has some very silent spots and the huge artificial pond can only make it better. This Gurudwara was constructed to commemorate the early death of the son of Guru Hargobind Singh, named Baba Atal Rai. The devotees travel from all over the world to visit the gurudwara, which was built between 1778 and 1784.

Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha

This Sikh place of worship is located in the financial capital of the country. This Gurudwara is located in Khar, Mumbai and belongs to the city’s most famous Gurudwaras. During Guru Nanak Jayanti, this place is filled with devotees to celebrate the birthday of their Guru Nanak and who are blessed with special langar at the gurudwara.
