Michelle Obama shares her secret to a Happy Marriage

Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have been giving couple goals ever since. The duo has been married for over 25 years and has two lovely daughters, Malia and Sasha. Forever inspiring with their ease and grace as a couple, the lady had a secret to share about keeping a happy marriage.

The secret lies in the bathroom!

During an appearance on the International Day of the Girl, Michelle Obama opened up regarding different aspects of her life. On being asked about the key to successful marriage, Ms Obama hilariously explained,

“One of the keys to a successful marriage is separate bathrooms.”

“When he enters my bathroom sometimes I’m like, ‘Why are you in here?’ And he’s like, ‘I live here. Can I enjoy my bathroom too?’”

On asked about her equation with her husband and her family, Ms Obama said:

“He’s been good. We’ve both been busy. We’re working on books, so that keeps us busy… And we’ve got kids in college. One kid in college [Malia]. One on the way [Sasha]. So we’ve got a senior in high school, so it’s all the drama that goes with… senior year is quite intense because it’s testing, it’s applications, it’s grades. So we are riding that wave with our seniors.”

She was also asked about having plans about running for the elections, to which she revealed: “As a woman, you understand where your voice works best. Where you want to operate. What space you want to be in. I have never wanted to be a politician, you know, and it’s one of those things that… nothing has changed in me to make me want to run for elected office.”

“I want to serve. I want to do work. I wanna to be out there,” she continued. “But there’s so many ways to make an impact. Politics is just not my thing, it’s as simple as that. And that’s what I want these girls— Find your passion. Don’t let somebody tell you what they think you should be. It’s up to you to determine your message and how you want to use your voice.”

Michelle Obama has been keeping busy with her initiatives towards women, raising awareness on girl education and various other social issues. By the looks of it, amidst the busy schedule, the bathroom per se provides the much needed personal space. Funny as it sounds, it seems to be working just fine for the power couple. Michelle Obama’s words echoed those of the first lady, Melania Trump. She also abides by the same mantra: “The key to a healthy marriage is having separate bathrooms.”

When the first lady and the former first lady of the United States say so, there must be much truth in it. So, yes. Just do all your stuff together but if possible, have different bathrooms. As simple as that!
