Mongolia is a country situated on the eastern side of Asia. The country situated between Russia and China is famous for its serene mountains, huge expanses of rugged land, fascinating history and culture. If you plan to visit the country in the near future, incorporate these five things in your travel schedule. 

Discover a little about the history 

Mongolian history has more names than Genghis Khan. The National Museum of Mongolia, situated in the downtown of Ulaanbataar (capital of Mongolia) will help all travellers learn and understand the age-old history of the country. Reportedly, the National Museum is one of the largest museums in the country. 

Stay in Ger 

Ger is a group of nomadic style huts built by the ancient Mongolians. Visit the outskirts of Ulaanbataar, to look at Ger and the tribes that still live in the nomadic style huts. There are many travel companies in Mongolia, who have created Ger camps in different parts of the country, for travellers to experience the history of Mongolia.

Sleep in the monastery

Reportedly, Mongolians do not believe in any religion but they do preach the teachings of Buddha and have many monasteries located in and around the country. Manjusri Monastery located in the capital city of Mongolia is a must-visit for its serene location and its accommodation. Reportedly, the Monastery provides dormitories to its travellers for contemplation and relaxation.

Give Airag a try 

Airag is fermented mare's (female horse) milk and is one of the most famous drinks in and around the country. Reportedly, Airag's taste is similar to that of alcohol. Other than Airag, travellers can also try Borgio and Altai Gobi (beers).

Experience Naadam 

Naadam is one of the largest festivals celebrated by the Mongolians. The festival is held every year from July 11 to 13. The festival celebrates several talents of Mongolians.
