Shimla is a popular hill station with a rich colonial history. At 2200m, this hill station was a favourite of British colonial rulers for its picturesque landscape. Lakkar Bazaar

For people who love collecting souvenir or antiques, this is the best place to be. Visiting this place any day between 9 am to 7 pm is best suggested. According to the local vendors, the antique pieces and wooden items are hand-carved and made locally. The market is also called the Tibetan market.

Must ride Toy train

Shimla is known for its slow-moving passenger toy trains. Kalka Shimla toy train is a historic train that paves its way through the serene hills of Shimla. There are four trains to and from which cost between 60 to 500 rupees depending on the type of ticket. The four-hour journey is worth all the effort. 

Skiing

The best place to visit in Shimla is Kufri, a snow-capped hill station. The name of the hill station means lake. The extensive slopes and smooth snow coverage offers excellent skiing tracks. The best time to visit this place is between September to January.

Rafting

Adventure sports enthusiasts can try rafting in Tattapani. Tattapani is located 50 km away from Shimla and can be reached within 2 hours of driving. The rafting range offers 14-30 km routes for any outdoor lover.

Trekking 

Walk through the pine forest of Summerhill. Located very near to the bus-stand of Shimla, this route offers scenic moments and one can track this easy trek distance in a mere three hours. The best time to visit is between January to June.
