Saina Nehwal drops to No 9; Sai Praneeth grabs career-best 11th

Indian shuttler Sai Praneeth went a spot up to achieve his career-best 11th spot in the latest BWF rankings after he overcame five-time world champion Lin Dan.

Indian shuttler Sai Praneeth went a spot up to achieve his career-best 11th spot in the latest BWF rankings after he overcame five-time world champion and two-times Olympic champion Lin Dan at the Denmark Open 2019. Meanwhile, in the women’s singles ranking, Saina Nehwal slipped to the 9th place as she continues her poor-form in the recent tournaments.

World Championships bronze medallist Praneeth suffered a straight-game defeat against World No 1 Kento Momota. On the other hand, London Olympic bronze medallist Nehwal had crashed out in the first round itself of the Denmark Open. She got out of the tournament in the first round itself for the third consecutive time and sixth overall this season.

Meanwhile, Indian star shuttler in men’s category and Padma Shri Srikanth Kidambi dropped a place down to 10th spot in the BWF rankings, losing the first-round match at the Denmark Open. Srikanth did not play in the Korea Open and China Open as a Knee Injury forced him to miss the action.

Meanwhile, another men’s singles player Sameer Verma was eliminated by the Olympic champion Chen Long in the second round of men’s singles at the Denmark Open. He was dropped to the 18th place in the BWF men’s rankings. Parupalli Kashyap, who was former World No 6 is now in the 26th place. World champion PV Sindhu is still on the 6th position despite losing to Korea-based An Se-Young at the Denmark Open. And she slipped to the sixth position after her early crashing out at China Open and Korea Open.
