After Los Angeles Lakers secured their 12th win of the season on Monday against the Atlanta Hawks (Kobe Bryant witnessed from the stands), LeBron James praised Kobe Bryant's eldest daughter Gigi. He dubbed her as one of the next-great female basketball players.
LeBron James and Kobe Bryant were once rivals on the court. Both have a hardcore fanbase that often argues about their respective greatness. James and Bryant, however, share a mutual respect that was on display during and after Los Angeles Lakers' 122-101 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Kobe Bryant attended the game with his daughter Gigi. He witnessed a game-winning performance by LeBron James where he recorded 33 points,12 assists and seven rebounds. James' performance helped lift the Lakers to an NBA-best 11-2 record. The 34-year-old has been in very good form this season averaging 25.0 points, an NBA-high 11.2 assists and 7.6 rebounds per game.
Speaking after the game, the 34-year-old said it was “fantastic” to play in front of Kobe Bryant, who helped the Lakers win five NBA titles during his 20-year career. James also praised his daughter Gigi and admitted that Bryant's got one of the greatest female basketball players sitting just beside him. It was high praise from the Lakers star, but he’s not the only NBA player who’s apparently a fan of Kobe’s daughter’s game. Atlanta Hawks rising star Trae Young noted on Twitter that he was just as excited to meet Gigi as she was to meet him.
Kobe Bryant was shown on the big screen with 4 minutes 25 seconds left in the first half and rose to acknowledge a standing ovation. LeBron James himself shook hands with Bryant mid-game and then nailed a 3-pointer to give the Lakers a 24-5 lead.
