The purported tiff between Team India skipper Virat Kohli and vice captain Rohit Sharma has witnessed a social media escalation as per media reports. Just recently, a member from the selection committee had gone on to say that Kohli who was supposed to be rested for the upcoming West Indies tour decided to feature in the bilateral series at the very last moment to secure captaincy amid calls for a 'split captaincy' in different formats. Now, a new twist has emerged.

The social media saga:

As per reports, Rohit Sharma has unfollowed Anushka Sharma - Virat Kohli's wife - on Instagram. This comes months after the Hitman had allegedly unfollowed the Indian skipper and has also 'liked' a comment poking fun at Anushka Sharma's picture with Virat Kohli and the rest of the squad with the Indian High Commissioner in England in 2018's tour.

While there was no hint of a tiff during the World Cup, with the pair even putting up a good stand in India's only group stage defeat against England, rumours of a tiff between the two world-class batsmen emerged almost as soon as India exited the tournament at New Zealand's hands. Before this, the two batsmen had played many match-winning knocks for India especially while chasing huge targets. Rohit is the only batsman to have registered three ODI double centuries while Virat is just nine centuries away from surpassing Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar's feat of 49 tons.

Virat continues to follow Rohit and his wife Ritika on Instagram.

Captain Kohli and vice-captain Rohit share a good rapport

In a recent interview with a media publication, India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun had said that both Kohli and Sharma share a good rapport with each other and also assured that there is absolutely nothing to worry about their relationship.

Not only that after the vice-captain had scored a record fifth World Cup hundred, captain Kohli had applauded his knock and wished that he continues to score two more tons in the semi-final and the final.

The video of this was posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their official Twitter handle.
