Andre Russell gets struck on the neck by a vicious bouncer in CPL

Andre Russell was struck on the helmet by a lethal bouncer from Hardus Viljoen. He was down instantly. However, CT scans cleared him off any kind of injuries

Andre Russell has been one of the most lethal batsmen in world cricket. Russell and his countryman Chris Gayle are two of the terrific batsmen who are known to strike fear in the minds of the bowlers. Andre Russell has earned a reputation for his big-hitting abilities for both the West Indies and the various franchisees that he plays. The Jamaican all-rounder is famous for dealing in boundaries especially huge sixes and is also known for finishing matches in T20 cricket. It is this ability of Andre Russell which has made him a T20 superstar in franchise cricket all over the world. The explosive batsman had an outstanding IPL earlier this year but his golden duck in a must-win game against Mumbai Indians knocked Kolkata Knight Riders out of the tournament. Andre Russell is currently participating in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL). However, he suffered a nasty blow while batting.

Andre Russell floored by a short ball

Andre Russell had a painful moment while he was batting during the CPL match between Jamaica Tallawahs and  St Lucia Zouks on Thursday. It happened in the 14th over of the Tallawahs innings by Hardus Viljoen. On the fourth delivery of that over,  Hardus Viljoen had bowled a short delivery as Russell failed to make contact with the ball while attempting a pull shot. Not only did he miss the ball but it also ended up striking him near the right ear which was also the uncovered part of his head. Andre Russell was down instantly after the blow and he was carried on a stretcher for scans.

No serious injury for Andre Russell

After Andre Russell was floored by Hardus Viljoen's lethal short ball, he was immediately taken to the hospital for CT scans and it was revealed that he has been cleared off a serious injury. Nonetheless, he was advised not to take any further part in the contest. The official confirmation of Andre Russell's well being was given by CPL T20 on their official Twitter handle. Take a look.
