New Zealand are currently in Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series which will be followed by three T20Is. The Test series will also mark the beginning of the ICC World Test Championship for both sides. Speaking about the Test series, the first Test match which is currently underway at Lord's has turned out to be an eventful one as of now for the Sri Lankan team and Trent Boult. Now, this might have left you puzzled. When the entire Lankan team are having a good time, then how come only Trent Boult and not the entire Kiwis are having fun. No need to be surprised as the hosts had their moment of fun at Boult's expense.
Well, there was a moment of madness which had Trent Boult caught and bowled or rather say 'Boult'. What really happened was in the 82nd over of the Kiwi innings which was bowled by Lasith Embuldeniya, Boult the batsman tried going for a glorious sweep shot. However, he was unsuccessful as not only did the ball get a top-edge but also got stuck in the grille of his helmet. The Kiwi pacer appeared to be shell-shocked as he had no idea where the ball was for a moment while the Lankan players were seen having a laughter and were also seen pulling his leg. Nonetheless, play resumed after the ball was taken off from the helmet and after it was revealed that Boult was in a condition to continue.
But, the Black Caps speedster became a subject of jokes after the fans got to know about this hilarious incident. Not only the fans, even the International Cricket Council (ICC) did not spare the tail-ender batsman.
Here are some of the reactions:
