BCCI invites performance analyst applications for women's team

BCCI has invited applications for the position of performance analyst for the Indian women's Cricket team.The last day for the application is September 20

In a recent development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the position of Performance Analyst with the Indian Women's cricket team as requested by the team members. The team management has expressed the need for a Performance Analyst who should not be more than 60 years of age. The deadline to apply for the same is September 20.

The  BCCI stated, "The Position of the Analyst for BCCI consists of collecting data at a granular level as specified by the Data collection practices and systems used by the BCCI Senior teams."

Analyst Profile and BCCI Requirements 

Speaking about the role of the analyst, BCCI has stated that the role of the analyst will include being a game preparation facilitator who will assist the coaching staff in the analysis of the technical and tactical aspects of the player. This entails the scouting of opposition's strengths and weaknesses by using platforms designed for the same as a key secondary role. The candidate should have a minimum three years of experience with a senior state team or a side at a higher level. The performance analyst could be appointed just in time for the five-match home T20 series against South Africa which is beginning from September 24 in Surat.

Aarti Nalge, the first analyst of the Indian Women's Team, occupied the position of performance analyst from 2014 to 2018. Nalge's job description included drawing strategies, giving inputs, preparing wagon wheels, and showing videos of the key rival players to the side.

Mithali Raj announces retirement from T20 Internationals

Senior Indian batswoman Mithali Raj has announced her retirement from the T20 Internationals last Tuesday. Notably, she is the only player to have captained Indian Women's team in more than one ICC ODI World Cup final, by doing so twice in 2005 and 2017. Mithali has also served as a batting consultant for India women's national cricket team and had also played as a player-coach.

Raj took to twitter and expressed her gratitude -

She also thanked the BCCI for the continued support and wished her team good luck for their T-20 preparations.

“After representing India in T20 internationals since 2006, I wish to retire from T20Is to focus my energies on readying myself for the 2021 One Day World Cup. It remains my dream to win a World Cup for my country and I want to give it my best. I thank the BCCI for their continuous support and wish the Indian T20 team good luck as they prepare for the home series against South Africa Women,” said Mithali Raj in the statement.
