Big Bash 2019-20: Pat Brown replaces Dale Steyn at Melbourne Stars

English pacer Pat Brown will join Melbourne Stars for the final eight games in the upcoming Big Bash League. He will replace South African cricketer Dale Steyn.

Earlier on Friday, 21-year old pacer Pat Brown made his international debut for England in a first of the five-match T20I series against New Zealand. He scalped New Zealand’s most experienced batsman Ross Taylor to finish with match figures of 4-0-33-1. The visiting English team ended up winning the match by 7 wickets to go 1-0 up in the series.

Pat Brown to replace Dale Steyn at Melbourne Stars

South African cricketer Dale Steyn was recently roped in by Melbourne Stars for the upcoming season of Big Bash League. The ninth edition of Australia’s premier domestic T20 competition will begin from December 17, 2019, and conclude on February 8, 2020. Dale Steyn, however, will only be playing the first six games in his BBL debut season. The pacer will return to South Africa for a limited-overs home series against England.

Young English pacer Pat Brown has signed up with the Melbourne Stars for their final eight games in the upcoming edition. Brown has already played 37 T20 matches for Worcestershire in England’s Vitality Blast T20 tournaments. The fast bowler has picked up 50 wickets across all T20 matches at an impressive average of 19.90.

By replacing Dale Steyn, Brown will be joining the likes of Nathan Coulter-Nile and Lance Morris as fellow pacers in the Melbourne Stars line-up. He is most likely to make his BBL debut on January 8 with a game against Sydney Thunder.
