Brett Lee turns 43: Some lesser-known facts about the Aussie legend

Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee was one of the fastest bowlers in international cricket during his playing days. He constantly clocked at 150km/h until his retirement and was one of the crucial members of Australia’s 2003 World Cup-winning team. The right-arm pacer announced his international retirement in 2012 after accounting for more than 700 wickets across three formats of the game. As Brett Lee and his fans celebrate 43rd birthday of the cricketer, we take a look at some of his lesser-known facts.

Brett Lee's love for music

Apart from his passion for the game, Lee is equally devoted to music. He was part of the Australian rock band ‘Six & Out’ which included his brother Shane Lee and former New South Wales cricketers Brad McNamara, Gavin Robertson and Richard Chee Quee. The cricketer also collaborated with Indian singer Asha Bhosle for a song ‘You're the One For Me’. The song reached peak positions and gained popularity in India and South Africa.

Brett Lee's Bollywood connection

During the 2004 IIFA awards in Singapore, Brett Lee presented an award to Preity Zinta, unaware of the fact that he will be playing for her IPL team Kings XI Punjab in the future. Brett Lee also acted in a Bollywood flick. He appeared as himself in the 2009 movie ‘Victory’. He, along with many international cricketers made cameo appearances in the Harman Baweja-starrer film. However, Lee made his debut as a lead role in the 2015 Australian-Bollywood romantic comedy ‘UnIndian’.

Brett Lee's charity work

The cricketer funds and supports various charitable organisations like ‘Salvation Army’, ‘ADRA’ and ‘Make a Wish Foundation’. He was also named as an ‘official friend’ for his continuous support for the foundation. Lee also initiated ‘Mewsic’ in 2007. ‘Mewsic’ was aimed to support the disadvantaged young people pursuing music.
