Allegations and counter-allegations are coming thick and fast from Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) with two rival factions trading serious charges of "corruption and money laundering" against each other with BCCI joint secretary-elect Jayesh George being the centre point. Jayesh has been accused by the rival faction of laundering of about Rs 2.5 crore from KCA during his tenure as treasurer, joint-secretary and secretary.
The allegations have come from a group called ‘We for Clean Cricket Movement’ which also accused Jayesh of conspiration to remove the former president TC Mathew from the primary membership of KCA. The KCA has now hit back with a letter, a copy of which is in possession with Republic TV, saying all allegations are baseless, frivolous and malicious in nature.
The letter reads: "All the allegations against KCA president Jayesh George are baseless. Those who had alleged were themselves sacked and ousted on charges of corruption. Those who had conducted press conferences against Jayesh, are themselves facing charges of corruption and anti organisation activities. It is under Jayesh George that Lodha Committee recommendations were fully implemented."
"Pramod, former secretary of Trissur District Cricket Association had to quit on corruption charges. Ronglin John as an office-bearer of KCA was sacked because he fraudulently availed tour allowance of the district secretary of Kottayam. Santosh Karunakaran faces inquiry for his role in the signature campaign against Kerala Cricket Team captain. Itty Cherian was dismissed from SBT for financial irregularities. The Association had directed to initiate legal proceedings against those who conducted the press conference and labelled those charges."
