Sunday night’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) encounter between Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors turned out to be a thrilling affair for neutral CPL fans. The Warriors sealed a spot in the playoffs in this year’s CPL with a 12-run win (DLS method) over the Tridents. Spinner Chris Green produced another impressive display for the Guyana-franchise with a career-best 4/14 last night. Former Pakistan cricketers Imran Tahir and Shoaib Tahir chipped in with three wickets between them. Here are the three key performers from the 2019 CPL encounter played at Bridgetown. 

Brief scores: Guyana Amazon Warriors 81/2 (King-51*, Hemraj-20; Lamichhane 1/21, Duminy 1/16) beat Barbados Tridents 138/10 (Duminy-38, AD Hales-24; Green 4/14, Tahir 2/22) by 12 runs (DLS method).

Barbados vs Guyana key performers

JP Duminy 

South African all-rounder JP Duminy was the strongest performer for Barbados Tridents on Sunday night. Duminy scored a 32-ball 38 for the Tridents as they scored 138/10 after 20 overs. Duminy also picked up the wicket of Shimron Hetmeyer in the second innings. However, he could not prevent his side from suffering a CPL loss at Bridgetown.

Brandon King

The Warriors’ Brandon King caused havoc against the Tridents bowling attack. He smashed a stunning 51 from 34 balls that put the Warriors ahead in the D/L race. Brandon King hit five fours and three sixes to put his team in control of the game. In doing so, he ultimately helped the Warriors qualify for the playoff stage of CPL 2019.

Chris Green

Warriors’ star spinner Chris Green has been a standout performer in the 2019 CPL season. Green picked up four wickets in last night’s game as he took his tally for this year’s CPL to 10 wickets from six matches. Green was named man of the match on Sunday at Bridgetown. Keep an eye on this 25-year old South African spinner in the knockout stage.
