When it rains, it pours. This isĀ something Deepak Chahar could agree to. Chahar, who etched name in the record books after picking up a hat-trick in Nagpur on Sunday, followed it up with another one for Rajasthan against Vidharba on Tuesday. He again was amongst the wickets, picking up 3 wickets in 4 deliveries, missing out on a hat-trick of hat-tricks.

Deepak Chahar misses out on a hat-trick of hat-tricks

Rajasthan took on Uttar Pradesh in the Group B clash of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020. Winning the toss, Rajasthan put Uttar Pradesh into bat, who managed to get to 155/6 in their 19 overs. Deepak Chahar, who had been expensive so far, conceding 37 off his 3 overs, came back to bowl the final over and instantly struck, picking up the wicket of Mohsin Khan. The next ball was played for single, and then Chahar picked up another, dismissing Shanu Saini for a duck. Shubham Chaubey who was batting on 21 was the next to depart, Chahar picking up his 3rd wicket in 4 balls. The last 2 deliveries were accounted for 6 runs, with Chahar agonisingly missing out on a third hat-trick in a space of 5 days.

Deepak Chahar on Sunday registered the best bowling figures in T20I, after picking up 6/7 in the third T20I between India and Bangladesh at Nagpur, helping India to a 30-run series-clinching victory. Chahar then on his return for Rajasthan in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020, picked up a hattrick against Vidharba. However, Rajasthan couldnā€™t win the game, losing the closely fought game by 1 run on the VJD method.

Deepak Chahar: One of the IPL gems

Deepak Chahar first came into recognition after picking up 8 wickets against Hyderabad on his First-Class debut for Rajasthan. Chahar then struggled with injuries and fitness while also lost form forcing Director of Rajasthan Cricket Greg Chappell to turn him down. He was impressive for the Rising Pune Supergiant and was subsequently picked by Chennai Super Kings ahead of their return season in 2018.Ā Deepak Chahar redeemed himself in IPL 2018 for Chennai Super Kings, who went on to lift the IPL trophy. He was the highest wicket-taker among Indian pacers in the IPL 2019, picking up 22 wickets in 17 games.
