The ongoing fifth season of the Women’s Big Bash League started on October 18 with a match between Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder. The Thunder lost their opening game of the tournament by 49 runs at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney. Sydney Thunder, however, came back strongly in their next game by defeating Brisbane Heat convincingly. Melbourne Renegades, on the other hand, are placed second in the points table with two wins out of their three matches. After losing their first match to Adelaide Strikers, Renegades won their second game against the same opponent one day later. The Renegades also defeated Perth Scorchers by 4 wickets at the CitiPower Centre Stadium.
