South Africa cricket captain Faf du Plessis and Rugby World Cup-winning captain Siya Kolisi had a fanboy moment when they met Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp who took some time away from the gruelling Premier League schedule during the international break.
Du Plessis posted a photo of the trio on Instagram and wrote, "A very impressive man to get why his players love him so much. I’m a fan as well now."
According to a leading British publication, this is not the first time that Klopp is visiting visit Cape Town. Earlier the Liverpool manager has been a patron of the Joy is Round initiative run by Hout Bay United Football Community in Cape Town since 2017, when he donated a reported £10,000 to the cause.
At that time, more than 1000 people turned up to the event at a food market in Cape Town to meet the Liverpool boss. Kolisi's South African rugby team beat England in the Rugby World Cup final in Japan recently.
Before going into international break Liverpool registered a crucial 3-1 Premier League victory over title-challengers Manchester City. The Reds will now travel to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park where they threw away a three-goal lead in 2014, handing Manchester City the advantage in the title race. The Premier League taking a back seat until its return on November 23.
South Africa skipper believes that his stint in the upcoming edition of Mzansi Super League (MSL) will help him in making a comeback to the T20 side for the ICC T20 World Cup next year. Du Plessis did not feature in the recently concluded T20 series in India
