Glenn Maxwell boasts of T20I talent in Australia ahead of second game

All-rounder Glenn Maxwell cited reasons behind Australia's recent success in T20I's. The home team defeated Sri Lanka by 134 runs to lead the series 1-0.

Australia defeated Sri Lanka in the first T20I by 134 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The T20I action will continue as the two teams will now face-off at The Gabba for the second match on October 30. A win here would mean a series victory for the home side with one game to spare.

Glenn Maxwell boasts of Australia’s T20I talent depth

Apart from Australia’s thumping performance over the visitors in Adelaide, the Aaron Finch-led side have maintained a win percentage of 59 since last year in comparison to their overall 52. Speaking about Australia’s turnaround in the shortest format, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell said that his side has probably turned a corner in T20 cricket. The right-handed batsman also cited the reasons as to why the Australian team has been able to come up with winning performances.

While speaking to a media outlet, Maxwell said that the Australian team performance in T20I’s has improved a lot in the past two years. The 2015 World Cup-winning member also boasted about the talent depth within the line-up by saying that the present Australian side have a lot of T20 specialist players. He added that the team management have started picking T20 specialist players instead of picking players from the ODI outfit. The all-rounder also said that the present set of players have a lot of experience of leading their respective Big Bash League teams.

In the opening T20I fixture against Sri Lanka, Glenn Maxwell played a whirlwind knock of 62 from just 28 balls which included seven hits to the fence and three over it. The right-hander was involved in a 107-run partnership with David Warner who himself registered his maiden T20I century. Glenn Maxwell is set to take the field again for the upcoming encounter against the visiting Lankans.
