'I have no idea', says Rohit Sharma amid ICC objection to 'Baalidan Badge' on MS Dhoni's gloves

As India and Australia ready up to clash on June 9 in the World Cup, Men in Blue's vice-captain Rohit Sharma spoke on the ongoing controversy on MS Dhoni's gloves with army insignia imprinted on it. In a pre-match press conference on Saturday, Sharma chose to say that he has no idea about it. 

"I am not the captain, I have no idea about Dhoni's glove. Probably you can see it tomorrow," Sharma said.

This is the first response by the team set to face the Australian team in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. Earlier, Captain Virat Kohli was asked about the controversy by the reporters in London but he chose to stay tight-lipped about it.

"The ICC has responded to the BCCI to confirm the logo displayed by MS Dhoni in the previous match is not permitted to be worn on his wicket-keeping gloves at the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019," an ICC statement said.

"The regulations for ICC events do not permit any individual message or logo to be displayed on any items of clothing or equipment. In addition to this, the logo also breaches the regulations in relation to what is permitted on wicketkeeper gloves," the statement added. 

Meanwhile, the BCCI has decided to not fight the ICC on MS Dhoni's dagger insignia on his wicket-keeping gloves after the international cricket body stringently denied permission. CoA Vinod Rai undeniably standing by his statement made on Friday evening while speaking to the media, reiterated that the ICC norms will be followed and the Indian cricket board will conform with the rules.

In the first match of India against South Africa, Sharma hammered a slow but steady century that guaranteed victory for the team, along with Jasprit Bumrah who accounted for both the South African openers and Yuzvendra Chahal who destroyed the  South African batting line-up.

In the press conference, the 32-year-old Sharma also said about the match on Sunday that it is pivotal to have a good day and perform well, and the team should not pay much attention to experience in the past, referring to Australia's recent series win against India.
